A home handed down from generation to generation. Jean-Baptiste MATHONNET built this magnificent house in 1906 and lived in it during an intense but too short life.
Jean-Baptiste MATHONNET was born on January 14, 1886, in Tours. His father is originally from la Grave and his mother from Château Queyras.
In 1889, he settled in Château Queyras with his mother and his little brother Antoine. On March 25, 1906, he bought the land and immediately built the Villa Belle Fleur. He thus lived in this house with his mother and brother while working as a Notary Clerk, then Notary. In 1914, Jean-Baptiste was mobilized. He joined the 11th artillery regiment of Briançon. He went there on foot from Château Queyras. In June 1916, he died after being seriously wounded. He is declared "Mort pour la France" (Died for France). Today, it is his great grandnephew Jean-Julien MATHONNET who pays tribute to him by converting this building into luxury accommodation. He creates several lodgings to share, to help discover or rediscover this magnificent region that helped him grow.
